Unilever - Marketing Internship, a professional change in my life

Working at an International Company like Unilever is a huge opportunity for me to explore my career in the near future. I have a chance to learn, to try and to grow, especially in mindset.

Becoming a company culture, every marketer at Unilever has to work hard and under pressure to survive and meet the expectations of the brand manager, in which the feeling I have never felt at University. In the real business case, things change fast and we are the marketers who make the money for the company, we have to adapt, and thrive in real-time.

The intern is not just a do-er, I am also a planner and a real marketer, everything I do have to think, adapt, consider purpose, budget and take action as a team member, not a supporter. At that moment, I started reflecting on myself and my mindset, should I willing to change and learn. To be honest, this is such a great chance for me to learn from perfectness and high expectations of my brand manager, it is time to grow, to look deeper into business and to have more experience.

I started to take action, beginning with changing my thinking to be more critical and behavior more professional, whenever I receive new workload, I have to think of the reason behind, ask for the objective, and purpose. One of an objective and brand purpose in the brief for creative agency. I need to draft down the network, timeline, and direction.

Lastly, I would reflect on myself, look up the key findings and how can I improve my performance at my workplace. Took one of my report key findings as an example which helped me make further decision.

Moreover, I feel I could develop day by day as I can receive and explore more to the brand and company. I can be a decision-maker right now as I am always open to learn, improve, and accept the challenges of my mentor. This could be one of my achievements as I have a plan before the internship which is to grow, to be more critical and to learn from experience. I am now confidently saying that I can work independently, I have approaches to learning and working, I have a growth mindset as I am always willing to improve every single day.
